I’m just going to be real with you: I love Slim Jims. I know they’re kinda gross and weird and contain god knows what ingredients, but my God, are they delicious. I also really love dill pickles and have been known to eat basically an entire jar at a time. That’s why I’m losing my sh*t upon hearing that Vlasic is releasing Dill Pickle Slim Jims because I need them basically yesterday.
- How far can we really take snacking? Combining two beloved products isn’t exactly news, but I’ll be frank and say that I would never have put Slim Jims and dill pickles in the same arena, let alone actually combining them into a real product. Are dill pickle Slim Jims taking things too far? Eh, the jury’s still out on that one.
- They’re just starting to hit shelves. As per Slim Jim, the dill pickle version of the sticks are hitting shops and convenience stores beginning in November 2019, so you should start seeing them soon. Get down to your local 7-11 (or whatever grocery store is nearby) to get some of these!
- Slim Jim believes they’re fulfilling a need. If you think dill pickle Slim Jims are a little too out there and you’re not quite sure you can get down, consider this: the company says there’s a demand for this product, and companies don’t just throw money down the toilet, so that must be the case. “There’s a huge amount of demand we see for pickled/sour/fermented foods and beverages in the market today, and Vlasic is a fabulous brand that we added with the Pinnacle acquisition we made last year,” said Burke Raine, vice-president and general manager of Conagra Brands’ products, in a statement. “We are able to use technical know-how and a great brand we acquired to create a really delicious, on-trend Slim Jim flavor.”
- I’m not entirely convinced yet, but I am intrigued. I won’t be able to say for sure if combining two of my favorite snack foods into one will be a good thing or not, but I am willing to try it and will be keeping my eyes peeled for these wherever I go. I never turn down an opportunity to snack!
