Your boyfriend will never believe those three little words if you don’t back them up — that’s why your actions need to support your claims. Otherwise, your man could end up feeling neglected and start searching for someone who will treat him right. In order to avoid that fate, you should do little things for your boyfriend to remind him that you love him and really show him how much you care.
- Plan a date. Instead of waiting until the last second to figure out what you two are doing on Friday night, you should buy tickets to a play or a sporting event. Make sure he clears his schedule for that day, but don’t let him know what you have planned. When he sees how much thought you put into it, he’ll realize just how much you care.
- Wear the jewelry he bought you. If he bought you a bracelet for your birthday, put it on before you go out on the town. Make sure he sees it, so that he knows he’ll be on your mind, even when you’re miles away from him. It’s a small way to show him you’re proud of him and everything he stands for.
- Put on his favorite show. Instead of asking him what he wants to watch, just put on the hockey game you know he’s been waiting all day to see. He’ll appreciate the fact that he doesn’t have to compromise with you or argue with you to make you change the channel.
- Put down your phone. When he’s telling you a story, look him directly in the eyes. Resist the urge to check your phone for the next five minutes until he’s finished talking. Even though you usually nod your head along while you scroll through Instagram, you’re not fooling anyone. He’d prefer to have your undivided attention.
- Take selfies with him. Uploading his picture to your social media profiles doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it’ll make a big statement. It’ll show him that you want everyone to know about your relationship, because you’re proud to be his girlfriend.
- Make him a meal. He’d be happy if you whipped him up a can of SpagettiOs, but you should go the extra mile by making his favorite dish. If his mother or grandmother has a family recipe, call them up and ask them to pass it down to you. Then you can give him a surprise that will satisfy his heart as much as his stomach.
- Show up when it matters. If he asks you to attend a family event with him, agree. If he has an optometrist appointment he needs to be driven home from, volunteer to help him out. Be there for him when it matters the most, and he’ll never question how much you care.
- Fix up his house. Men aren’t the only ones who can fix things around the house. If his fire alarm needs a battery change, do it for him. If his room needs cleaning, organize his clothes. As long as he doesn’t mind you going through his items, you should feel free to tidy up for him.
- Give him an unexpected gift. You shouldn’t wait until the holidays to buy him a new wallet or a pair of jeans. The best gifts are the unexpected ones. That’s why you should surprise him with a little something this week, even if it’s as cheap as a bag of his favorite candies.
- Kiss him. There’s no better way to show your love than by giving him a smooch. It doesn’t matter if you kiss him on the cheek before you leave for work or shove your tongue down his throat to initiate sex. As long as you press your lips against his skin, he’ll be putty in your hands.
