ZZ Top might have actually been right about being addicted to love. There are some people out there who are absolutely, positively addicted to the thrill of falling in love with someone. Love addicts crave that “butterflies in the stomach” feeling so much, they’ll stay in destructive relationships, become serial monogamists, cheat, or even act out in desperation just so they can get the “high” they need. At times, they may even be in total denial about a partner’s faults just so that they can continue the fantasy. Once the honeymoon phase of a relationship is over, most love addicts will dump the partner so that they can pursue someone else.
