Johnny Depp Says He’s Forever Indebted To Dior For Getting Him Through Amber Heard Trial

While many people were shocked that luxury brand Dior continued to work with Johnny Depp despite some of the rather disturbing details that came out during his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, they did just that. Not only did they not fire him, the doubled down by filming an all-new commercial with him. It’s a kindness Depp won’t soon forget, it seems.

  1. Johnny Depp is in a new ad for Dior’s Sauvage fragrance. It’s the cologne he’s been repping for nearly 10 years, so it’s not a new project. In the clip, Depp gives a monologue about eagles crying while circling prey and strums lazily on an electric guitar. It’s not necessarily going to make you run out to purchase a bottle, but hey, that’s art, I guess.
  2. Dior stood by Johnny when everything was lost. Lest we forget, Depp (and many of his fans) truly believes he’s the victim in this situation and that his name was being unfairly thrown in the mud. So no one was as surprised as the actor was when the fashion house backed him.
  3. Now, Depp says he’ll be forever indebted to the company. “I’ve been working with them for a while now. Of course, you develop a personal relationship with folks and keep close to them. They stuck with me through every single second, and that ups the stakes quite a lot for me: they trusted me, they believed in me, and they continued,” he told GQ Middle East of the continued partnership.
  4. He said that the “gesture is so noble and so rare.” We do live in a world of cancel culture, and people have lost lucrative contracts for far less serious offenses. However, it seems Johnny has been given a pass, at least where Dior’s concerned. “I’ve never been more touched or prouder to have had that support,” he explained. “Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down. I will forever be in their debt; I will forever be loyal.”
  5. Johnny Depp actually signed an extra lucrative contract with Dior after the defamation trial ended. Movie studios may not want to hire him, but Dior certainly did. The deal meant that Johnny will get more than $20 million over a period of three years. No wonder he’s indebted to them!
