When couples get to a point in their lives when they don’t want any more children and taking birth control isn’t an option or just doesn’t make sense for the woman, it’s becoming increasingly popular for the man to get a vasectomy. One dad of five is doing just that, but he’s commemorating the experience by giving his wife a pretty unique gift.
He’s giving her a ring full of his sperm. Yup, you read that right. He’s got £1,500 ($1900) to spare and has reached out on the online marketplace Bark to see if there are any jewelers willing to meet his unique request: put some of his last living sperm inside a ring so his wife can wear it for the rest of her days.
They’re really into quirky gifts as a couple. According to the man, their relationship is full of pranks and fun, so he believes this ring would make her laugh. Something tells me this might be the biggest prank of all! “So you don’t think I’m a complete nutter, my wife and I have been together for more than 20 years now, have five kids (hence the vasectomy haha!) and since day one we’ve been pulling pranks on each other with quirky presents – this will hopefully be the best one yet though,” he said.
He plans to give her the ring for Christmas. It’s a unique stocking stuffer for sure, but he believes it’ll be the perfect holiday gift. “The plan is to give the ring to my wife on Christmas day, wait for her to tell me it’s beautiful, let her wear it for a couple of hours, and then tell her what it’s actually made of,” he told The Sun.
It’s meant to be a keepsake. Sure, it’s a tongue-in-cheek keepsake, but it’s one way to commemorate his potent potables, so to speak. “I know this is super weird, but I’m due to get a vasectomy at the end of November, and I wanted to do something funny with the last few living sperm I’ve got, kind of like a keepsake of my manhood,” he explained. Fair enough, I guess!
Admittedly, it’s a weird request. Kai Feller, co-founder of Bark, hopes that someone comes forward to help the man with his request despite its rather unconventional nature. “This is definitely one of the weirdest requests we’ve received in a while, but as always we’re happy to help our customers find a professional who can facilitate their needs, no matter how obscure! Some might disapprove, but if people are having rings made out of breast milk and human ashes, why can’t sperm be made into one as well? We urge anyone with the skills to create this type of ring to get in touch with us.”
