“McDonald’s Bangs” Are Taking Over BeautyTok And They’re Actually Kinda Cute

If you’re anything like me, you probably get sick of your hairstyle, like, 10 times a year. You want to try something new, but you’re not sure about the colors or cuts that would best suit your face shape. Plus, you don’t want to make a serious commitment. Yes, hair grows back and color grows out, but it’s such a lengthy process (no pun intended) that it sometimes doesn’t seem worth the effort, especially if you end up hating it. For instance, maybe you’ve considered getting bangs. They seem to be everywhere right now, but you’re not sure if they’re right for you. Thankfully, “McDonald’s bangs,” the latest trend taking over BeautyTok, seem to be flattering for everyone!

“WTF are McDonald’s bangs?” you ask.  No, they don’t really have anything to do with the Golden Arches. However, their whispy, flowy nature makes them look like the infamous yellow McDonald’s logo, hence the name. In reality, McDonald’s bangs are really just curtain bangs with a bit more volume and oomph, if you do them right.

While it might seem complicated to achieve Mickey D’s bangs at home and that it’s a look you could only get with a professional blow-out, that’s totally not true! Thankfully, a few BeautyTokkers have shared some great tutorials on how to make it happen from the comfort of your own home in just a few minutes.

You’ll need to start with damp hair, so this is a good style to try on one of the days you wash your hair. You start by separating your bangs from the rest of your hair and then grabbing your styling tools. If you’re fancy, you might own something like a Dyson Airwrap, and that’ll work well here. However, a simple round blush and blowdryer will achieve the same results, so don’t feel bad if you can’t drop big bucks on styling appliances.

Next, part your bangs in the middle and use your Airdrop or round brush to curl one side out and away from each side of your face. This should give your bangs a bit of volume, lift, and lightness, which will ultimately help achieve the McDonald’s bangs look.

If you don’t even have a blowdryer handy, TikToker @oliviadaytonn has a tutorial that’s hot tool-free. You’ll still need wet hair, but with her approach, you brush your bangs back with your hands before pulling them forward into that McDonald’s shape. They might not stay that way if your hair is a bit more unruly, but that’s what clips are for. You can remove the clips after your hair dries.

The good thing about McDonald’s bangs is that they’re a relaxed look. The magic is in their effortless appearance, so don’t think or try too hard to make it work. Let them do their thing and you’ll look amazing. All you need now is some McNuggets.
