Senior Police Officer Suspended After Fight With Colleague Over ‘Who Has Nicer Breasts’

A senior police officer was suspended from her job and eventually resigned from the Greater Manchester Police Force after being found guilty of gross misconduct. Rebekah Sutcliffe, 49, was Assistant Chief Constable in November 2016, when she was found to have behaved “shockingly, cruelly, and hurtfully” towards Supt Sarah Jackson during a gala dinner at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel during an argument the two were apparently having an argument over who had nicer breasts.

  1. Sutcliffe bared her breasts in public. During the argument over who had the better chest, Sutcliffe is said to have exposed her bare breasts to drive the point home. Needless to say, doing this in any setting is inappropriate, but the fact that this happened at a Senior Women in Policing dinner really did take the cake. They were drunk at the time, but that’s no excuse.
  2. The two women were a total embarrassment. Given that this argument/incident happened in public, everyone saw it and Sutcliffe in particular brought shame on Greater Manchester Police as an official representative of the organization. Needless to say, she was immediately suspended. “A senior officer has been suspended following allegations of inappropriate behavior. An investigation is underway and it would be inappropriate to make further comment,” GMP told Oldham Chronicle at the time.
  3. This wasn’t the first time Sutcliffe had been in trouble. She’d previously tried to gatecrash a Labour conference event at a hotel and also failed to reveal her relationship with a fellow officer during a disciplinary panel she was a part of. The latest allegations, which include claims of bullying, seem to have been the final straw.
  4. After she was found guilty, she resigned from GMP. While the tribunal resulted in Sutcliffe being given a final written warning for her behavior on the force, she resigned shortly after and got a job with Oldham city council, with whom she’d been working during her time as an officer. GMP said that at the time of her disciplinary hearing, Sutcliffe was “working with Oldham Council…overseeing the introduction of integrated working across the public sector and the learning will be shared more widely. Rebekah has extensive knowledge and experience of work considering public sector reform. The project is for an initial six months.” Makes sense then that she’s switched over full-time. Here’s hoping she can keep her breasts away in this post!
