We’re all sick of hearing men complain about being written off as romantic partners before we women give them a chance. They act as if it’s something that only happens to them and that women have our pick of the litter when it comes to finding love. Of course, there are plenty of ladies who try to seduce their buddies only to be turned down. The difference is that we won’t complain about being rejected. Once we realize what’s happening, we back off. Here are some signs he’s trying to friend-zone you to look out for. If you notice any, it’s time to dip.
- He tells you about his sex life. If he tells you the juicy details about the girl he banged the night before, he isn’t interested. If he was, he’d avoid sounding like a pig in front of you. Bragging about his conquests means that he views you as one of the guys. Not only that, but he wouldn’t want you to think that he’s having sex with someone else if he wanted to have sex with you. Duh.
- You always hang out in a group. This is one of the most obvious signs he’s trying to friend-zone you. If you ask him to a movie and he shows up with a few of his friends, he has no desire to be alone with you. He wants to keep things platonic, so he’s bringing his buddies to prevent you from making a move on him. Sucks but it’s true.
- There’s no physical contact. When a man likes you, he’ll do whatever he can to get close to you. If he wiggles away whenever you try to touch him, sits on the opposite side of the room as you when you hang out, and refuses to hug you hello or goodbye, he doesn’t want your friendship to turn into anything more. He’s happy with things the way they are.
- He tries to set you up with his friends. Why would he play matchmaker if he wanted to date you? If a guy tells you how perfect you are for one of his friends, then he doesn’t want anything to do with you sexually or romantically. If he did, it would kill him to see you dating his friend.
- He doesn’t flirt even when he’s drunk. Men let loose when they’re drunk. They’ll take chances that they’d never make while sober. So if you’ve taken shots with your crush and he still didn’t show the slightest bit of interest in you, then you can cross him off of your to-do list. It isn’t going to happen.
- He asks for your advice about dating. If he comes to you for advice on how to woo another woman, then you’ve definitely been friend-zoned. Life isn’t a romantic comedy, so he’s not asking for your advice in order to use it on you. If he says he likes another girl, he likes another girl. If this isn’t one of the most obvious signs he’s trying to friend-zone you, I don’t know what is.
- He doesn’t answer every text. If he liked you as more than a friend, he would always be eager to talk to you. However, if he lets a few days go by without answering you, then he’s treating you the way he treats the rest of his friends, and that’s the last thing you want.
- He considers you family. Do you call his mother “Mom?” Does he introduce you as his sister? If he thinks of you as family, then it means that he loves you — just not in the way that you were hoping.
- He looks like a mess whenever he sees you. He doesn’t have to slip into a suit before he sees you. However, if he never showers or brushes his hair before he visits your house, he doesn’t give a crap about what he looks like. If he wanted to date you, then he’d put in a little more effort into his appearance in order to impress you.
- He hasn’t made a move. Yes, some men are shy. However, if you’ve known each other for years and he still hasn’t made a move, then he’s never going to. It doesn’t take that long to work up the courage to ask you on a date.
