Taylor Swift And Matty Healy Breakup: ‘It Was Never Serious’

Taylor Swift And Matty Healy Breakup: ‘It Was Never Serious’ Q with Tom Power | The Graham Norton Show/BBC

It was only a few short weeks ago that reports surfaced claiming that Taylor Swift and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy were “madly in love.” In fact, it was even more recently that Swift herself stood on stage during one of her Eras Tour concerts telling fans that she’s “never been happier” in any aspect of her life and that she feels like she’s exactly where she’s meant to be. However, it seems the backlash to Healy’s racist, misogynistic bullshit got too big for the Swift PR machine, as the pair have apparently gone their separate ways.

It should be noted that this relationship was clearly never serious. Taylor Swift had only just broken up with Joe Alwyn, her partner of six years. She wasn’t on the hunt for love, she was looking for a rebound, and for some reason, Matty fit the bill. What could a drug-addicted narcissist who thinks “ironic” bigotry is a personality trait and the world’s wholesome sweetheart superstar have in common? Yeah, we’re still trying to figure that out.

Anyhoo, things seemed to be going strong between the pair as recently as last week, and they were photographed kissing and holding hands. However, the public is just sorta not cool with Healy getting off to porn featuring Black women being brutalized and wearing merch for his buds’ podcast in which they called Swift’s mom a pig. Oh, and then there was that time Matty claimed all of Swift’s activism is performative only (and he’s not wrong there, but…). In other words, a Taylor Swift and Matty Healy breakup was always on the cards.

Now, a “source” tells Us Weekly that ending their relationship was no bigs since “they had fun together, but it was never serious.” No shit, Sherlock. A second source, or perhaps the same person, told People, “She had fun with him, but it was always casual.” Uh, doy. Ya think?

The Taylor Swift and Matty Healy breakup is probably the most predictable thing to happen in 2023. However, the fact that she was even attracted to this kind of guy in the first place should tell us all we need to know about what kind of person Swift really is beyond her good girl persona. I’m sure she’ll find a way to paint herself as the victim of his manipulation on her next album!
