A woman has defended the fact that she sleeps and cuddles with her own brother despite them both being grown adults. The 20-year-old shared her story on Reddit, where she insisted that she and her 26-year-old sibling get cozy together to “stay warm,” not because they’re having some kind of affair as her boyfriend thinks.

  1. It was pretty cold that night, she claimed. When OP’s brother was staying over when he was in town for a work trip, it was really cold outside and they decided to not only share a bed but to get close and cuddly under the covers in order to conserve body heat.
  2. Her boyfriend walked in on them. OP’s boyfriend was none too pleased to find his girlfriend in bed with her own brother, cuddled up as if they were a romantic couple. He was furious and said as much, but OP says it’s a normal thing in her family and no big deal.
  3. The whole thing did seem a bit odd… According to OP, her boyfriend wasn’t there because his mom was unwell so he was staying at his parents’ house. Her brother arrived at roughly 6:30 a.m. (which is pretty weird) and OP was asleep. She didn’t feel like getting up, so her brother got in. “He tells me: ‘If you’re not going to wake up, at least let me get into bed ’cause it’s cold and I’m sleepy too,'” she recalled. “I say okay and he gets in. We immediately fall asleep.” Keep in mind, there is a guest room in the house, as OP later revealed in the comments.
  4. Her boyfriend really thinks she’s basically cheating with her own brother. It’s not hard to understand why he may have gotten the wrong idea. “He starts saying how this is ‘basically cheating’, asking if we had sex, if we’re in an incestuous relationship, etc., that this is absolutely disgusting and mega inappropriate and other delusional things like that,” OP wrote. “I tell him that we’ve always shared a bed while living at home and that this is 100 per cent platonic. He lets me know that ‘we were snuggling under the blankets while sleeping.’ I tell him yeah, that’s what people do when they share a bed and it’s cold.”
  5. Sadly, it looks like the end of OP’s relationship with her boyfriend. She went on to say that she and her boyfriend aren’t on speaking terms because he doesn’t believe what she says or that her relationship with her brother isn’t totally inappropriate. I have to agree!
