10 Reasons To Keep Going Even When You Feel Like Giving Up

It’s easy to chant “Never give up!” but when you’re in a frustrating situation or you can’t seem to find happiness in life, it’s not as easy to feel like those words have real meaning. The thing is, we all feel like giving up from time to time, especially if it feels like life’s against us. But giving up is a trick – it seems so appealing, but it never creates anything good. So, when you’re down and out, it helps to remember that, and these 10 reasons to keep going even when you feel like caving.

1. You’ll Regret It Later.

The thing about quitting is that it makes you feel relief just as you do it, but then you regret it later, especially if what you’re quitting is something you’ve wanted to achieve for years. Thinking about how you’ll regret it later will keep you on track to continue pushing. No one wants to feel guilty for letting themselves down – it’s the absolute worst.

2. You’ll Miss Out On Opportunities.

Even if you don’t get to your ideal destination in life, giving up isn’t the answer because it could make you miss out on other opportunities that present themselves along the way. Giving up on your chance of real happiness means you’re shutting yourself off from all the opportunities, fun, and happiness waiting for you to discover. That’s really sad!

3. You Have Plenty Of Power.

Nothing in your life simply happens to you — you can overcome your limiting beliefs and life circumstances to enjoy a happier, healthier life. Our sister site, Sweetn, can help you reshape your love life in particular by teaching you to use the power of your very own mind to get what you deserve from relationships. Check them out here.

4. You’ll Get There Eventually.

Success isn’t linear and your path to success could be completely different from other people’s paths, so bear that in mind when you feel like you just want to throw in the towel. Your attitude also has a lot to do with how successful you are, though. You’ve got to believe that you’re worthy and you can achieve what you want, otherwise you can’t expect others to support you.

5. You’ll Make Your Loved Ones Proud.

You might feel you’re okay with giving up, but what about the people in your life who love you and want to see you happy? Maybe you have a mom who raised you as a single parent and would feel so sad if you gave up. Or, perhaps you have kids and you want to set a good example for them. Whatever the case, focus on the people who love you and they can become fuel for you to keep kicking.

6. There’s Beauty And Happiness Around You.

Maybe the path you’re on is making you miserable, so you don’t want to keep fighting. But change your perspective. Notice things around you that are beautiful and bring you happiness – not all the happiness in the world is at the finish line. Most of it is along the journey, so keep your eyes peeled for it. It’ll remind you that life is beautiful.

7. You’ll Thank Yourself For Keeping The Faith.

If you feel like giving up, stop and take a five-minute meditation sesh to center yourself. Think about what you have to be grateful for, which is probably a lot more than you think. Cultivate a feeling of gratefulness and know that if you don’t give up, you’ll thank yourself for having kept the faith.

8. You’ve Got Something Special No One Else Has.

Everyone has something unique and special about them. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget about that and think you’ve got nothing to offer. But just because other people haven’t acknowledged what makes you special, it doesn’t mean those things don’t exist. Make a list of what you’ve got that makes you different and unique, and keep it handy for days when you feel like giving up. Go do it RN!

9. You’ve Got Detours Along Your Journey.

Sometimes, the journey can feel tiring. That’s totes normal, but it doesn’t mean you should give up. Life’s like a highway that’s got tons of turnoffs along it. These little detours should be taken regularly so that you don’t neglect your self-care and need for relaxation and fun, which is what you need to refuel and enjoy life. The bottom line: give yourself a freaking break every now and then. It’ll make you come back with renewed spirit.

10. You Can Move Your Motivation.

Although the desire to give up can make you feel like you’re done with whatever you’re striving to achieve, it could be that your motivation is running low – the motivation is the problem, not what you’re fighting for! The good news is that you can boost your motivation pretty easily. For example, set small goals to achieve, reward yourself for doing something great, or team up with a like-minded friend who keeps you on track.

11. Your Feelings Aren’t Facts.

Another thing about feeling a lack of motivation and wanting to give up: your feeling isn’t a fact! You might be feeling lazy or really tired, but that doesn’t mean you’ve hit a dead-end. Acknowledge your feelings, but don’t allow them to steer you in the direction of giving up. You rule your feelings, not the other way around, okay? If you’re feeling bad, do things to make you feel good and reset your mind.
