Suspecting that someone you’re interested in likes you back can be frustrating. If you’ve got no proof that they have any feelings for you, you probably won’t make any moves yourself, and this means you can literally be stuck in limbo forever. Luckily, there are a few classic behaviors that guys exhibit when they really like someone. Read about them below!
- They pay real attention to her. When anyone really likes anyone, regardless of who they are, they’ll pay attention to that person. They’ll listen to what they say and remember the small details. They might often stare at that person when they think no one’s watching as well. It’s totally normal to be fixated on the things that we’re interested in, especially when that interest is romantic. So if a guy pays a lot of attention to you, it’s a sign that he really likes you.
- They keep up with her on social media. In this day and age, people keep up with those they’re interested in on social media. That means checking Instagram stories, opening Snapchats, and possibly commenting on and liking posts. Depending on how shy a guy is, he might also stalk your social media from afar. It’s a sign that he likes you if he keeps up to date with everything you’ve posted, even if he doesn’t like or comment.
- They initiate dates. We initiate catching up with people we want to see, period. If he doesn’t make any effort to see you, you can assume that he’s just not that into you. But it’s a sign that he does like you if he always wants to see you. He’ll always be asking when you’re free. And if you’re not free, he’ll be persistent about finding a time when you are.
- They respond to messages. Generally speaking, be careful of wasting your time on people who leave you on read. If he can’t even be bothered to respond to your texts, you can guarantee he doesn’t like you in any real way. By contrast, it’s a sign of his interest if he does respond to all your messages. He’ll also respond without making you wait too long. Although he might be busy, a guy who seriously likes you won’t go days without responding to you.
- They reschedule canceled plans. A guy who really likes you isn’t likely to cancel the plans he has with you. But if he does have to cancel for whatever reason, he’ll reschedule. The bottom line is seeing you will be important to him. He might have to cancel, but he’ll always make another time to catch up with you. It will be one of his highest priorities!
- They ask lots of questions. If you’ve ever really liked someone, you already know how it feels to be interested and invested in them. You probably asked that person lots of questions and wanted to find out more about them. It’s the same when a guy really likes you. He’ll always find a way to keep the conversation going and find excuses to talk to you.
- THey put effort into how they look. This is a natural human response to romantic feelings. When we like someone, we want them to think the best of us. So if he seriously likes you, he’s likely to put effort into how he looks. He might get a haircut before he sees you, wear his best clothes, or go to any other effort to try and impress you.
- They check in with her. When a person really likes you, they’ll care about your wellbeing. In other words, he’ll want to know how your day is going. He’ll want to know how work went or whether you solved that problem you were talking about. Or he might ask you to message him once you get home safe after your date. Checking in with you like this, even if it’s just to see how your day is going, is a green flag.
- They bring her up when she’s not around. You can bet that the guy who truly likes you will talk about you when you’re not around. He might try to bring you up around your friends to gauge how you feel about him. Or he might not be able to stop himself from talking about you in front of his friends. You might not be there when he talks about you, but eventually, you’ll hear it back on the grapevine!
- They try to make her laugh. It’s not just a cliché—guys really do try to make people laugh when they like them. He might tell some jokes, try self-deprecating humor, or anything else to get a chuckle out of you. Although this can be awkward if he’s truly not funny, look at it as another sign that he’s seriously interested in you.
- They compliment her. Flattery is a sign of affection. If he’s always complimenting you, it’s a sign he really likes you. Research shows that guys will look for opportunities to say nice things about you so they can show their interest in subtle ways.
