Baby Owl Lives In Family’s Christmas Tree For 4 Days Without Them Noticing Fox 56 News

Decorating for Christmas is one of the most enjoyable activities of the season, transforming your living space into a magical winter wonderland and really getting you in the holiday spirit. However, one family in Lexington, Kentucky had no idea that their festive fir tree actually came with something extra special: a real live baby owl!

The owl lived in the tree for four days without the family noticing.

The family put up the live tree in their living room, decorated it with loads of ornaments and lights, and had it there for four whole days without realizing the baby owl was inside.

Not even the family’s dogs had any idea the small animal was nesting there, homeowner Michelle told Fox 56.

“I have three dogs, we use this room non-stop, watch TV, the kitchen’s right there no indication,” she said.

It wasn’t until the family got their carpets cleaned that the owl was discovered.

In preparation for the holiday, the family got Magic Carpet & Upholstery’s owner, Bobby Hayes, out to clean the family’s carpets. That’s when he noticed the adorable baby owl.

Bobby said he was plugging in some of the cleaning equipment when he saw the owl on a “lower limb” of the tree.

“It crawled up into the tree further. And as it was in the tree further, it took me several minutes to even find it.”

The poor little guy was all alone.

Bobby managed to get a hold of the owl and took a picture of it to send Michelle, who mistook it for a “stuffed animal” or “ornament” at first. However, when she realized what was really going on, she was in shock.

Michelle is glad it was Bobby who found the owl, as she’s scared of the birds and joked, “The owl could’ve stayed without me, I wasn’t coming home.”

Bobby took the owl outside and let it fly free. Hopefully it’s okay out there!
