Britney Spears Admits She Had An Abortion Because Justin Timberlake ‘Didn’t Want To Be A Father’

Britney Spears has revealed that she had an unplanned pregnancy when she was dating Justin Timberlake but that she had an abortion because he “didn’t want to be a father.” The admission comes from her upcoming memoir, “The Woman in Me,” in which she details the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy.

  1. The pregnancy wasn’t planned, but Spears wasn’t against the idea of having Timberlake’s baby. However, The NSYNC singer made it clear he wasn’t on board with being a dad. “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears wrote in an excerpt obtained by People. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
  2. She still has regrets about the abortion to this day. While the decision may have been down to her, Spears, now 41, confesses that she felt pressured to end the pregnancy because of Timberlake’s strong stance. “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she explained. “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
  3. Of course, Britney Spears did end up becoming a mom. She and Timberlake ended their relationship in 2002, and Spears eventually married Kevin Federline. Together, they welcomed two sons: Sean Preston in September 2005 and Jayden James one year later in September 2006. Sadly, they don’t have the best of relationships, but Spears is hopeful that will change in the future.
  4. This is likely the least juicy of all of Spears’ confessions in her tell-all memoir. “The Woman in Me” is due out on October 24, so not long now to wait!
