Britney Spears has spoken out after she was assaulted by NBA player Victor Wembanyama’s security guard at a Las Vegas hotel. Spears was said to have approached the 19-year-old top draft pick to express her admiration when one of his security team backhanded her without turning around, knocking her glasses from her face and causing her to fall to the floor.

Spear has since taken to Instagram to recall the “traumatic experience” and to request a public apology from both Wembanyama and his security team. However, so far, all the athlete has said is that he “didn’t see what happened” and that he went on to enjoy a nice dinner after the incident took place.

“I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention,” Spears wrote on Instagram. However, Wembanyama said that he was “walking straight and didn’t stop” and that “that person grabbed me from behind.” He knew that security “pushed her away” but has no idea how much force was used. However, he admitted, “I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner,” per BBC News.

Spears wrote on Instagram that she’s no stranger to “traumatic experiences” and has had plenty. However, she wasn’t expecting what happened at the Aria Hotel as she was simply trying to be nice. She also pointed out that violence was unnecessary in this situation.

“I get swarmed by people all the time. In fact, that night I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans,” she pointed out. “My security team didn’t hit any of them.”

The “Toxic” singer went on to say she found the entire situation “super embarrassing” but that she thinks it’s “important to share this story and urge people in the public eye to set an example and treat all people with respect.”

Britney Spears was also very upset to see that Victor Wembanyama seemed to find the whole thing amusing, calling it “cruel and demoralizing,” especially given that she’s only 5’3” and he’s 7’4”.

She thanked the Las Vegas PD for their support, as well as the fans who have offered kind words after the news broke of what happened.
