Plants and flowers are a beautiful addition to any home garden, and sunflowers are some of the most classic and most beautiful. While the yellow and brown combo is great, variations like strawberry blonde sunflowers offer a lovely twist to the original. Plus, now there are coconut ice sunflowers with bright white petals to keep your summer garden super cool.

- Coconut ice sunflowers change colors as they mature. The petals start as a creamy vanilla color but as the flowers continue to grow, they change to an icy, brilliant white. Their centers remain that beautiful chocolate color that all sunflowers have.
- They grow massive! While there are various types of sunflowers, all of which grow to different heights, coconut ice sunflowers can grow up to 5 feet tall at their largest with massive heads! If it wasn’t enough that the petals are such an amazing color, they’re huge too!
- You still have time to plant seeds this year! You need to sow the seeds for coconut ice sunflowers between February and May, which means you still have a couple of weeks to get your seeds in for this year’s harvest, which comes between June and September. Be quick, though — germination takes up to 21 days so you’ll want to get started ASAP.
- Make sure your flowers get a lot of sun! As long as your sunflowers are in well-drained soil and get plenty of sunshine every day, they should grow without any problem. You’ll also need to keep all the weeds away since they take the water from the plants and can prevent them from reaching their full height. You’ll also need to keep an eye out for any pests and handle them accordingly.
- So how can you grow your own coconut ice sunflowers? You can buy seeds in packets of 10 for a little over $4 on Burpee. The sooner you order them, the sooner you can plant them and the sooner they’ll sprout so you can enjoy their beauty!
