Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman, And 20 Other Celebrities Sing ‘Imagine’ While Quarantined

It’s not just us regular folks who are under quarantine during this difficult time. Celebrities are staying at home too and they’re just as bored as the rest of us. Feeling “philosophical” after six days of self-isolation, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot took to her Instagram page to post a video of herself and 20 of her fellow Hollywood stars crooning out an impressive rendition of “Imagine.”

  1. Well, that seems kinda random… If you’re wondering why spending time at home inspired Gal Gadot to get musical, you’re not alone. However, her explanation makes a lot of sense. “I ran into this video of this Italian guy playing the trumpet in his balcony to all the other people who were locked inside their homes,” she said. “And he was playing ‘Imagine’ and there was something so powerful and pure about this video. And it goes like this …”
  2. Gal Gadot has a lot of famous friends. While she could have sang the song alone, a chorus of voices is always better, which is why she roped in 21 of her friends to each claim a line and join in, creating the strangest yet most endearing rendition of the John Lennon classic you could ever imagine. (Pun intended, obviously.)
  3. So who’s on the video? Celebs who chipped in included Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Zoe Kravitz, Natalie Portman, Maya Rudolph, Cara Delevingne, Mark Ruffalo, and Jimmy Fallon. But that’s not all! There was also Jamie Dornan, James Marsden, Sarah Silverman, Amy Adams, Leslie Odom Jr., Ashley Benson, Kaia Gerber, Norah Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and Sia.  That’s a seriously impressive group.
  4. “Imagine” is a pretty good song for the times. Gal Gadot understands that the current state of the world is extremely scary and sometimes music has the ability to heal, or at least to make us feel better for a short period of time. It may be hard to imagine how we’re going to get through this, but we will, and little spots of brightness like this can only help.
