This Haunted, Clown-Themed Motel Is The Stuff Of Nightmares

If you’re someone who’s into creeping yourself out, you might be interested in staying at this supposedly haunted clown-themed hotel in the secluded town of Tonopah, Nevada. Settled between Reno and Las Vegas, the World Famous Clown Motel has more than 2,000 clowns inside and just so happens to be right next to the Tonopah Cemetery for extra creepiness. Ready to book your stay yet?

  1. The hotel’s owner, Hame Anand, didn’t even like clowns at first. Thrillist interviewed Anand, known as the CEO of the Clown Motel, and discovered that when he first went to a circus when he was 14 and still living in his native India, he hated clowns. However, his friend convinced him to go back and that’s when it clicked. “I fell in love with that character,” he said. “From that day on, I started collecting clowns.”
  2. Once he moved to Vegas, it all took off. By 2017, Anand had collected 200 clowns and was ready to move to Las Vegas to help his family manage the two hotels they earned. He also worked 10-hour shifts at Amazon. Then Bob Perchetti, who owned the World Famous Clown Motel, put the place on the market and Anand knew it had to be his.
  3. Anand believes the clown hotel is haunted. Once he bought the place, weird things started happening. He started hearing sounds like footsteps, voices coming from empty rooms, and random knocking and it really freaked him out. “One day I thought, ‘why did I come here? There must be some divine power. They want me here to run this motel. So probably, they are not going to mess with me.'”
  4. Lots of people disagree with the assessment that the World Famous Clown Hotel is haunted. While many people say nothing weird or supernatural happened to them while they were at the hotel, others say they did have some unexplained experiences. “I heard a knock last night at my door, I checked and nothing was there. I also heard voices throughout the night and found scratches on the wall,” one guest wrote. Another added that there were several cold areas in their room and that his wife heard a “creepy laugh.”
  5. If you’re in the area or just want to freak yourself out, stop by there. The World Famous Clown Motel doesn’t have a website, but it does have a phone number you can call for more information and to book a room. You can reach the hotel at (775) 624-9098. Happy booking!
