It’s 2022 which means you’re probably no stranger to pursuing the guys you’re into. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not nice being on the receiving end sometimes. Guys love what they think they can’t have, so more often than not, they’re up for the challenge of winning you over. Here’s how to get a guy to chase you without doing much at all.
Master the art of subtle flirting.
Guys are always complaining that they don’t know if a girl is into them or just being nice. Is that our problem? I don’t think so. Keep him guessing a little and he won’t be able to stop thinking about you. While you’ll need to show some level of interest, keep your cards close to your chest when it comes to just how into him you really are, at least for a little while.
Don’t wait by the phone.
If you text him back immediately every time you get a message from him, he’s going to wonder if you’re permanently attached to your phone. A lot of guys don’t like texting endlessly anyway, so stick to sending texts that serve some function, like deciding where and when you’ll meet. No need to tell him your life story solely through WhatsApp and Snapchat. Save it for when you’re together in person and he’ll be a lot more motivated to make those dates happen.
Don’t change your plans for him.
This is one of the best ways to get a guy to chase you. If he asks you to go for drinks on Friday night at 4 p.m. that day, he’s testing the waters. If you consistently agree to hang out with him at the last minute, he’s going to think you never have anything else going on. Obviously, an occasional spontaneous date can be awesome, but you don’t want him to make it a habit.
Have other options.
There are a lot of guys out there, and they would all be lucky to have you. Why be so quick to focus on just one? If you have a few on the go, you’ll be less likely to be disappointed when one potential fades into obscurity. He needs to know that he’s not the only person on your radar and that you’re not desperate for his attention.
Don’t settle for less.
Dating can get exhausting, it’s a fact. But don’t ever settle for a guy who is “good enough” just because you’re sick of looking. If you have high standards, the right guy will rise to the occasion. Don’t let things slide just because you’re afraid to be single. You’re way better off on your own than with a guy who’s just not on your level.
How to get a guy to chase you
Talk to more guys.
So you’re at a party and you have your eye on one guy, but he’s not making a move. Instead of focusing on him, chat with a few other guys. Once the object of your affection sees how friendly and in-demand you are, he’ll either have to up his game or miss his chance.
Learn to genuinely enjoy being single.
There are a lot of amazing things about being single, so embrace them! That way, you’ll be happy on your own and if a guy really wants to convert you to the relationship dark side, he’ll have to work for it. After all, there really is so much more to life than romantic love, so he’ll have to make it worth your while.
Don’t be the one doing the chasing.
If you’re always the one texting him first, asking him to hang out, and generally making all the effort, how can you expect him to stay motivated? If you’re clearly willing to do all the work, you better believe he’s going to let you. Of course you’ll need to make an effort and not leave it to him to do all the work, but letting him do the heavy lifting for a while won’t hurt anyone.
Have a life outside of dating.
Your friends, family, career, and hobbies all need attention too, so don’t neglect the rest of your life in favor of dating. Guys want a girl who is well-rounded and interesting, not someone who will drop everything the second they get a little male attention.
Stand out from the pack.
If you want to get a guy to chase you, this really is key. Certain types of girls are a dime a dozen. Guys know they can find another one just around the next corner, so they don’t spend too much energy on them. But if you’re the type that “isn’t like other girls” (in whatever way is unique and genuine to you), he won’t want to risk letting you slip through his fingers. Make it a point to stand out from the crowd in ways that are genuine to you and you won’t go wrong.
