Hunter Gets Gored Through Leg By Dying Buffalo In A Perfect Moment Of Poetic Justice

An Australian man was gored through the leg by a buffalo he shot and killed with arrows. Chris Mcsherry from Gove, Australia saw the buffalo while bow hunting in Port Bradshaw, close to the Northern Territory, and decided to shoot two arrows at the animal. While injured, the buffalo tried to get away, only for Mcsherry to follow “a good blood trail” to kill it. However, before it died, it did manage to leave Mcsherry with a parting gift.

  1. Mcsherry had no remorse for killing the innocent buffalo. The animal, which weighed nearly 1,700 pounds, was nothing more than a trophy for Mcsherry. He tracked it down to some brush and shot it a few more times with arrows to “put it out of its misery.” However, the buffalo wasn’t about to go out without a bit of a fight.
  2. McSherry was gored pretty severely. The buffalo got him twice with its horns, giving him a huge, eight-inch cut beneath his buttocks and a huge hole over his right knee. He had to be taken to a Darwin hospital where he underwent two surgeries and still may have to have skin grafts in future. His partner, Elenie Bromot, shared an update on his condition on Facebook, writing, “Just wanted to give everyone an update, Chris Mcsherry is doing fine and is having surgery as we speak, thank you to everyone that has offered support to me and the girls and Ty, I am very grateful means a lot, and thank you to everyone thats has gone to see if he is ok in Darwin hospital, i really appreciate you all as i can not be there with him xoxo hopefully is home soon, will keep you updated [sic].”
  3. Even following his injuries, Mcsherry just wanted to get back out to hunt more. “Buff is dead I’m alive (this time) and hope to be back with my family and friends soon thanks for all the well wishes on other posts I appreciate the love and support and will live to HUNT another day,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
  4. He took pictures with the buffalo but it’s unclear what happened to it. It doesn’t seem like Mcsherry’s interest in hunting has anything to do with needing to be self-sufficient and get food. Instead, it’s all for sport, which is terrible and truly should be outlawed.
