You might love how entertaining your friend is, but you can’t help but feel a little uncomfortable around them sometimes ’cause they’re big on drama. They’re five Netflix series wrapped up in one shrieking, tale-spinning package! To confirm your suspicions that they’re all about the drama, here are 12 signs that you’re in the company of drama royalty. You might need to distance yourself a little sometimes so you don’t get caught up in the mess.

1. Everything Is A Crisis.

The smallest thing can become the biggest drama for this person. It’s like the world’s falling apart when they’re running late or they had terse words with their partner. Whenever they call you, you fear the worst has happened because of how they always sound breathless. While you used to freak out, now you know to take it all in your stride ’cause they exaggerate and love to play the victim.

2. They Either Love Or Hate Something — There’s No In Between.

When tucking into a pasta dish, they’ll tell you it’s the best dish they’ve ever had, even though they said that about their meal just the other day. Everything’s always exaggerated. Same for the bad things. They’ll meet someone who’s a bit cold with them and they’ll tell you they’re the worst person ever. They don’t do anything halfway – it’s always extreme.

3. They’re Addicted To Attention.

If someone brings a lot of drama, they’re probably needy. They want attention, so you might feel like you have to constantly praise them or reassure them. It sometimes makes your friendship feel like a chore, to be honest, and it can be quite draining. And, at times it might even feel like they’re pretending to need validation desperately, just to get your attention.

4. They’re Moody.

You never know what you’re going to get with this person. They swing from one mood to the next, in five minutes flat. Sometimes, this can make you feel like you’ve got to walk around on eggshells, out of fear of setting them off and causing them to throw a tantrum. It’s intense!

5. Their Stories Are Over The Top.

Do you sometimes listen to what your dramatic friend is telling you and frown, wondering how much of it is true? People who thrive on drama tend to infuse imagination into their stories to ensure they have your full attention. But, it can leave you feeling like you’re not sure if they’re telling the truth. It’s hard to keep their stories straight.

6. They’re Horrible Communicators.

Around this person, you usually feel like you can’t get a word into the conversation. They love to interrupt, laugh louder than everyone else, and dominate the conversation so they’re always talking about themselves. They love the sound of their voice, and it’s quite draining. It shows you just how much they crave attention to feel good about themselves.

7. They Cause Drama.

Someone who’s always attracting drama probably creates it themselves. Don’t be surprised when they cause conflict in your social circle or focus on negative interactions to turn them into tabloid-worthy tales. Being around them is a risk because they could start dumping drama on your doorstep, and you don’t want to get sucked into it.

8. They Cry On Command.

Your friend seems to have a button they can press to bawl their eyes out, and sometimes you’re left wondering if those tears are real or used for them to get attention. I mean, are they really crying because someone gave them a compliment and it moved them so much? Or, because they saw a sad movie trailer? That’s the thing with dramatic people: their reactions to things are usually over the top.

9. They Make Everything About Them.

You talk to your friend about an exciting goal you want to achieve, and they turn the conversation onto their news instead. You mention how you’re feeling stressed, and they one-up you with how stressed out they are. Everything’s a competition with them as they try to prove that the world revolves around them.

10. They Always Make A Grand Entrance.

Since they love the spotlight, someone who’s drama royalty will never sneak into a party. They’ll make their presence known! So, they’ll greet everyone loudly or strut into the venue like they’re famous. They want everyone’s eyes to be on them, and they’re unashamed to jump through hoops to get it.

11. They’re Always Sharing On Social Media.

Someone who’s dramatic might struggle to keep things off social media. They’ll splash about the fight they had with a friend or mention details about how they’re feeling, just to get “likes” or comments. They thrive on people being concerned about their latest post and asking them if they’re okay. They need to be seen and validated, even by strangers.

12. They’re Always Trying To Impress.

Spending time with a dramatic person can be cringey at times. They like to boast about their achievements or namedrop to get everyone’s attention. They’ll flash their latest expensive handbag or car, and wait for the praise to roll over them. They do this because they think it makes them seem better than everyone else, but this kind of behavior can make being around them difficult.
