Man’s Birthday Steak At Restaurant Came With ‘Murder Certificate’

A woman who just wanted to treat her son to a nice steak for his birthday got more than she bargained for when his premium cut of Wagyu beef came with a “murder certificate.” Robin Ownby shared the document on TikTok, which was presented to prove the origin of the meal they were eating. However, she was left feeling incredibly guilty.

“I’m going to hell,” she said.

In a video that was viewed more than 7.2 million times before Ownby made her account private, she lamented that seeing the certificate of origin for the wagyu beef ruined her meal.

“We got wagyu steak for my son for his birthday. It came… with a murder certificate. Murder, oh god!” she said in the clip.

To be fair, the certificate was pretty in-depth…

This document didn’t just state the steak’s origin. In fact, it revealed the cattle’s birth date, how old it was when it died, where it was raised, and even included a little inked print of its nose.

She discovered that her son’s steak used to be a cow that was killed at 30 months old. “It’s a baby!” she cried.

“I feel like a huge [expletive],” she captioned the video.

People in the comments didn’t really get what the big deal was.

While Ownby was understandably upset, many of the people who saw her video didn’t understand why she was so upset.

“A5 wagyu is treated like royalty. Those cows have a better life than I do,” one person insisted.

Another said, “It’s nice to honor the animal that you’re about to eat,” while a third agreed, writing, “You do not have to feel guilty about the harvest.”

It still didn’t stop her son from enjoying the meal.

In a follow-up video, Ownby showed her son slicing into the beef, which cut like a dream. She captioned the clip with the hashtag “#DeliciousThough.”

I bet!
