A former Versace model who spent nearly $600,000 on plastic surgeries and cosmetic procedures to look like Kim Kardashian is now shelling out more than $120,000 in order to “detransition” back to her old self. Jennifer Pamplona, 29, has gone under the knife and needly more than 40 times over the past 12 years, but now she’s rejecting superficial beauty standards and deciding to reconnect with the girl she was before.

  1. She was sick of being called a Kardashian. As Pamplona told Caters (via NY Post), even though she went out of her way to look like Kim, she eventually hated that it’s all anyone ever noticed. “People would call me a Kardashian and it started to get annoying,” she admitted. “I had worked and studied and was a businesswoman. I had done all these things and had all these achievements in my personal life, but I was only being recognized because I looked like a Kardashian.”
  2. Pamplona had her first sugery at 17. She went under the knife in 2010 as Kim Kardashian’s star was on the rise. However, she soon became addicted to cosmetic procedures and trying to look like the reality star. She ended up having three rhinoplasties, eight butt operations and alterations, and many other surgeries and treatments. It got her loads of attention as well as lots of social media followers, but she just wasn’t happy.
  3. Pamplona admits she was “addicted” to surgeries and needed help. “I discovered that I was addicted to surgery and I wasn’t happy, I was putting filler in my face like I was in the supermarket,” she said. “It was an addiction and I got into a cycle of surgery equals fame and money, I just lost control of everything. I went through a lot of hard times.” She realized she had body dysmorphia and set out trying to get help.
  4. She decided to undo everything she’d done. She sought out a doctor in Istanbul to help her get back to her former self. “I saw on the computer beforehand how I would look and it was like I was having a rebirth,” she said. The whole thing cost her nearly $120,000. “I had a face and neck lift, buccal fat removal, cat eye surgery, a lip lift and a nose job all at once. I went into the operation room as one person and I came out as another,” she revealed.
  5. Her “detransitioning” process wasn’t pain-free. In fact, she dealt with infections that left her with severe bruising and swelling. She was even “bleeding from her cheeks” for three days after one of her surgery sites became infected. However, even as she continues healing, she knows it was worth it. “The best feeling is knowing I’m not in a fight with myself anymore,” Pamplona admitted. “I am now who I wanted to be and I really now understand the meaning of life.”
