Signs Your Male Friend Has Feelings For You, According To A Guy

The friend zone can be an interesting place. You never know when someone you’ve put there might develop feelings for you and decide they want something more out of the relationship. If you’re a woman who has some good guy friends, you shouldn’t be too surprised if one of them decides there’s romantic potential. Of course, figuring out when this is the case is easier said than done. If you’re unsure if he’s cool staying platonic or wants something more, here are some signs your male friend has feelings for you.

  1. He talks to you way more often these days. Obviously, you talk with your male friends whenever you hang out, but if a guy calls or texts you to check up more frequently when you’re not hanging out than he used to, that usually means something. It’s a sign that he wants to talk to you and be a little bit more than a friend. The same principle applies when you can sense that the guy is trying to extend the conversation and keep talking to you when you are chatting. He’s looking for any excuse to engage with you, which makes his feelings pretty clear.
  2. He introduces you to new people. Most of us have more than one circle of friends. If one of your guy friends starts introducing you to his other friends, that could mean he wants more from you. He clearly wants you to be involved in more of his friend circles so he can see you more. If you get along with pretty much everyone he hangs out with, you can be around him all the time, and that’s a win in his book.
  3. He tries to highlight the good times. If a male friend has feelings for you, one of the biggest signs you’ll notice is his insistence on reminiscing. He likes you romantically, so he’ll do subtle things to get you thinking about him in the same light. He might casually mention all the time you spend together or bring up positive memories you have together to hopefully get you to realize how great things are when you’re around each other. It’s a bit of a roundabout way of going about things, but it’s less risky than coming straight out and confessing his feelings.
  4. He’s watching your social media. Of course, it’s normal for your pals to check up on your social media. But a guy friend who likes you as more than a friend will be a little more active. There will be a lot more likes and comments from him than your other friends and he’ll always “like” your posts even if he doesn’t say anything at all. It’s a sign that he’s following you closely and clearly has a crush.
  5. He tries to pay for stuff. A guy friend who likes you will look for little ways to play the role of your boyfriend. This will often include trying to pay for things when you’re out together. He’s not going to go overboard because he wants to be subtle. But he’ll buy you coffee and little things like that. If you end up eating a meal with just the two of you, he’ll try to pay for it. He might try to pass it off as no big thing, but this can be a clear sign that he likes you. Guys aren’t usually overly chivalrous for no reason.
  6. He offers a lot of compliments. Sure, friends usually have no problem offering little compliments to one another, but a male friend who has feelings for you will take things a little further. His compliments will be a little more serious because he cares about you and wants you to feel good about yourself. If you can’t deny that you feel like a million bucks when he’s around, that’s probably because he’s always boosting your ego.
  7. He pays attention to your dating life. If the guy is smart, he’ll be subtle by the way he goes about this. He’ll always try to make it sound like he’s supporting you, but he’ll be a little extra curious about your dating life. He wants to know what you’re looking for and how it’s going with anyone else you’re dating. Needless to say, he wants to know what your situation is and if he might have a chance with you.
  8. He’s interested in your life. Outside of your love life, a guy friend will want to know a lot about your life in general. Since he likes you, he wants to get to know you better. He won’t be content with just small talk. He might ask an unusual amount of personal questions for someone who’s just a pal. He wants to know what makes you tick, what you want out of life, and what drove you to be the person you are. It’s all pretty deep if you think about it.
  9. His eyes find you. If your guy friend likes you, it’s a safe bet that he’s physically attracted to you. In other words, he likes looking at you. If just the two of you are hanging out, his eye contact will be constant. Meanwhile, if you’re in a group setting, his eyes will always find you. He’ll always glance in your direction just hoping that you’re looking back and making eye contact with him.
  10. He shows no interest in other women. To be fair, this isn’t always a surefire sign that a male friend likes you. There could be a variety of reasons why he’s not showing interest in other people. However, it’s possible that he’s not interested in pursuing other women because he’s hung up on you. He might want to make sure that he’s available just in case you come around and like him back. If you suspect he likes you, ask him why he’s not interested in dating other people and if his answer is unconvincing, it could be a sign that he’s into you.
