‘Law & Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay And Christopher Meloni Have Finally Reunited

Understatement of the century and all, but 2020 has been rough. It seems like around every corner lurks more bad news and it’s totally demoralizing. That’s why we have to grab any shred of good news we can get and hold tight to it, and the fact that Law & Order: SVU eternal favs Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have officially reunited definitely counts. It’s basically the best news I’ve heard all year!

  1. To be fair, it’s not much of a reunion for them. Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have apparently been friends ever since the show and have stayed in regular touch since Meloni left. They’ve shared photos of themselves hanging out on holidays and other occasions before, so this wasn’t a total shocker but it was still a nice surprise.
  2. I swear they’re trolling us with these captions. Hargitay shared two nearly identical photos of herself with Meloni in a row, each with the caption “Easy like Sunday morning…” and “It’s on.” The former was likely because the shot was taken on Sunday, while the second is probably referring to the fact that Meloni is getting his own SVU spinoff and is due to appear in the SVU season premiere, whenever that happens. Meloni’s caption was pretty adorable: “Ladybug on my face n a lady on my arm.” Ugh, I can’t bear it!
  3. This is the kind of content fans want!! In real life, Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay are both happily married to their respective partners and simply remain good friends. In fans’ heads, however, they’re still Benson and Stabler and they’re totally meant to be forever and ever! Just let us live in this fun fantasy land while we can!
  4. I can’t wait to see these two back on screen together again. While it’s unlikely that there will be too much crossover between their Law & Order characters beyond the season premiere of SVU, we can only keep our fingers crossed that they’ll have to visit each other’s departments from time to time. I’ll be waiting!
