15-Year-Old-Boy Shoots His Dad Dead Because He ‘Had Enough Of His Father Abusing His Mother’

A 15-year-old boy reportedly shot his father dead because “he had enough of his father abusing his mother.” Tucker Gales was arrested for the murder of 66-year-old Wesley Jordan Gales for allegedly shooting the man with a .22 caliber Marlin semiautomatic rifle after he and his mother suffered years of abuse at his hands, WFXG reports. Now, many in the community have hailed the teen as a hero for what he did.

  1. There was a documented history of abuse in the home. Wesley Gales had previously been arrested for cruelty to children and family violence/battery against his wife Deborah, whom he’s said to have punched in the eye and kicked in the head among other injuries. When confronted by police officers, he is said to have confessed everything and was later sentenced to a year’s probation after pleading guilty to the charges against him.
  2. Wesley Gales later threatened his son’s life. According to a 911 call made by Deborah in September 2020, Wesley threatened to shoot Tucker in the head and also allegedly kicked Deborah in the private parts. However, Wesley denied everything and “due to conflicting statements, no physical evidence, and a lack of third-party witnesses, no charges were filed,” police said.
  3. The violence from Wesley had been going on for years. While Wesley always denied his abusive behavior, both Deborah and Tucker say it dated back at least to 2011, when the man slapped his wife and verbally abused his then-6-year-old son. Since then, the violent incidents only escalated and Tucker had had enough.
  4. A lawyer volunteered to represent Tucker free of charge. Attorney Scott Connell was moved when he heard about Tucker’s case and came forward as his attorney. “This is a perfect example of what can happen when you have an abuser in the home,” Connell reportedly said.
  5. A judge allowed Tucker free on bond until his trial. Despite the very serious charges against him, a judge decided in light of all the evidence surrounding the case, Tucker should be allowed to return home with his mother while he awaits further court appearances.
