Woman’s Heartwarmingly Funny Obituary For ‘Dead Sexy’ Husband Will Make You Laugh And Cry

Losing a loved one is never easy, and for many of us, it would be downright impossible to locate our sense of humor when we’re suffering unimaginable grief. However, one Nebraska woman managed to pay tribute to her late husband in the most beautiful and hilarious way possible: by penning a hilariously heartwarming obituary that’s not just funny, it’s exactly what she believes he would have wanted to have written about him.

  1. Crystal Sauser and Eric Sauser were married for 13 years. Together, they have three children: 11-year-old Amelia, 9-year-old Violet, and 3-year-old Benjamin. Sadly, after a two-year battle with cancer, Eric passed away in February at the age of 43. The couple had done everything they could to fight the illness but despite undergoing many treatments, it simply wasn’t enough.
  2. She knew exactly what she had to do. Not wanting Eric’s obituary to be an entirely somber affair, Crystal managed to write one of the most lovingly hilarious odes to her partner anyone could ever hope for. “I’m sad because I have a broken heart, but I’m not sad because we didn’t win our journey,” Crystal told Good Morning America. “Eric never wanted pity … we kind of maintained that in writing the obituary.”
  3. The obituary will make anyone chuckle. Even if you didn’t know the couple yourself, you have to laugh at the way Crystal describes her “dead sexy” husband, saying that his passing was “just in time for him to make his spiritual appearance at every Red Sox spring game.” She added that he hated “sad stories, beets, romantic comedies, a snow-packed driveway, and turning off the garage light” but that he was “content with most everything else.”
  4. Naturally, the obituary has gone viral online. So many people have been touched about the tender, humorous way Crystal was able to memorialize her husband and loved that despite the pain, she was able to find something to smile about in their relationship. Crystal herself thinks that Eric would have loved it, telling GMA: “I think his face is so red. He’s completely embarrassed by me saying things [in the obituary] like, ‘He’s dead sexy,’ but he would be so happy that he wasn’t cookie cutter.” He seemed like a truly lovely guy, that’s for sure.
