6-Year-Old Girl Joins Mensa As Genius With Einstein-Level IQ ABC

A 6-year-old New Jersey girl has been inducted into Mensa, the private society that only allows verified geniuses into its illustrious ranks. Declan Lopez, though only still a small child, has an IQ of 138, putting her on par with Albert Einstein and making her a shoe-in for the organization.

Declan’s parents noticed she was extra smart when they were at the airport.

Talking to ABC News, Declan’s mom, Meachel Lopez, said that she recalled her daughter speaking another language she’d never been taught.

“We were on a trip in the airport, and she just started to count in Mandarin,” she recalled.

That’s when she knew they had something special on their hands.

They still want her to be a normal kid.

While Declan’s high IQ certainly makes her special, her parents insist they just want her to enjoy her childhood and not have too much pressure on her shoulders too early.

“I want her to laugh and joke and make mistakes and do things that 6-year-olds do,” Meachel said.

Declan Lopez is excited to learn everything she possibly can.

She told ABC reporters that even though she’s only 6 years old, she’s absorbing knowledge about the world around her like a sponge.

“I’m interested in arts, science, math, and geography. My favorite thing to learn is force in motion,” she said.

Declan’s younger brother also seems to be showing signs of high IQ.

While he’s yet to have it tested or be inducted into Mensa, the Lopezes are beginning to wonder if such extreme intelligence runs somewhere in the family.

For now, though, they just want to make sure their kids are happy and well-adjusted.
