Pretty much every single woman on the planet has been the unwilling recipient of an explicit picture at least once. It should go without saying that we really don’t want to see a picture of your wang, and yet somehow, guys never seem to catch on to this simple truth. If you really want to turn us on, how about sending one of these texts instead?

  1. “How are you?” How rare it is to see a guy who actually wants to hear how a girl is! Girls love, love, love to see a guy who is interested in how their day goes. It shows that you aren’t self-centered, and that you’re genuinely interested in our lives. It’s insanely rare these days.
  2. I’m sorry.” An honest apology for a mistake is exceedingly rare these days, and if you want to earn brownie points with us, acknowledge the things you do wrong (and we’ll do the same). It’s amazing how often arguments can be smoothed over with a real apology, and while it may not fix everything, it can be a start.
  3. “I’m reading a great new book…” Do you know how many girls are totally sick of dating guys who don’t seem to have any interest in learning or reading? It’s a sky-high number. A guy who reads is a guy who will have great chances with us.
  4. “So, I might have reservations to this new place… wanna join?” As long as the place isn’t a hotel, this is a text that will show girls that you’re adventurous. We love guys who will try out new things.
  5. “You won’t believe what just happened at the office…” A good story about something crazy happening will always impress girls over an explicit pic. We’re impressed by things that interest us, and if you can tell a great story, that’s a good sign that you’ll be able to pique our interest in other ways, too.
  6. “I got a promotion.” It shouldn’t be a surprise for guys to hear that women like guys who are actually going places in life. Guys who make bank are impressive, and that’s pretty cool in everyone’s book.
  7. “I’m cooking some amazing dinner right now. Want to come over?” A guy who can cook is a guy who can totally win us over. Most guys just assume that they get to eat while the girl cooks. By showing us you’re progressive and talented enough to cook a fine meal for two, you’re definitely setting yourself up for success.
  8. “Did you know…?” Girls love a guy who knows interesting trivia. It’s a lot more thought-provoking than just sending over an explicit picture. Good topics for strange facts include: unusual words, interesting historical facts, anthropological facts, facts about animals, and strange science facts. Sounds random, but no less so than a close up of your junk.
  9. “What do you think about these jeans for tonight?” Guys, pay attention. Girls love to hear your opinion on things, even if it’s something as inane as fashion. In fact, if you suck at fashion, this is the best damned way to make sure you dress to impress.
  10. “I just found my collection of Echo and the Bunnymen vinyls…” Talk about music, and you’ll be golden. This is doubly true if we have the same taste in bands. If not, maybe you can introduce us to something new.
