Trader Joe’s Is Selling A Money Tree, So Time To Finally Get Rich

You can always count on Trader Joe’s to bring out the best products that you just have to have. Off the top of my head, here are just a few things I can’t live without: Orange Chicken, Neopolitan Joe-Joe’s, that salted peanut butter with flax and chia seeds, Everything But The Bagel seasoning, the Green Goddess dip… I mean, I could go on and on here, people. They’re even great for non-food things, like this money tree that’s pretty much guaranteed to bring fortune your way in 2020*. (*Okay, probably not, but you never know!)

  1. Money trees have a long history. The “money tree” is actually the Pachira aquatica, a tropical plant usually found in Central and South America. While generally speaking, the plants are happiest in warm, wet environments, you can keep them indoors pretty much anywhere and they don’t take much effort to keep alive, Apartment Therapy says. The belief that this plant could actually bring you financial fortune goes back several centuries, though whether or not it actually works is a whole other question.
  2. Lots of stores are selling them. While Costco has also been selling money trees, theirs are bigger and more expensive than Trader Joe’s version. Costco’s will run you about $20 but Trader Joe’s is offering a mini version for about $8.99, which is a total steal (and may make more sense for people with smaller living spaces).
  3. It probably won’t make you rich but it can’t hurt. It makes so much sense that money trees are starting to be sold everywhere. It’s January, the beginning of a new year and we’re all still broke from overspending at Christmas. Any chance we can get to gain some extra $$$ in our bank accounts will be taken, even if it is a rather silly tradition with little basis in reality.
  4. Hit up your local Trader Joe’s to grab yours. It’s unclear how long these will be around for, so if you think you might like to fill your house/apartment with one or more of these for the new year, head to your nearest TJ’s and grab ’em while they’re hot.
